Queens Park Rangers signed two new goalkeepers over the summer.

Liam Kelly arrived at Loftus Road from Livingston after an exceptional season north of the border and Dillon Barnes, who was snapped up from Colchester United, looked set to give Mark Warburton a welcome selection headache in the months ahead.

And then there’s Joe Lumley too, the 24-year-old academy graduate who has started every one of QPR’s Championship games since the start of the season.

So eyebrows have been raised in West London with The Mail claiming that Warburton has chosen to invite free agent Heinz Lindner for a trial.

A 29-year-old free agent who left Grasshoppers Zurich in the summer, Lindner has 22 caps for the Austrian national team and he’d add plenty of experience between the sticks at Loftus Road.

But what does this mean for the other goalkeepers jostling for a place in Warburton’s plans? It certainly doesn’t look good for Kelly and Phillips, who are yet to feature in the Championship for QPR, while Lumley’s horror mistake in Saturday’s 3-2 win against Luton is still fresh in the memory.
