Sandro is departing Queens Park Rangers.

Sandro’s experience in English football has come to an end for now as the Brazilian prepares to seal a permanent switch away from Queens Park Rangers.

West London Sport reported last night via their transfer centre that Sandro has completed his medical at Turkish side Antalyaspor and an announcement is expected within 24 hours. He is set to sign three and a half year contract.

Sandro’s signing from Tottenham was hailed as a big moment when he arrived in 2014, but he has never really settled at Loftus Road.

The midfielder struggled with injury even before signing for the R’s, and continued his fitness woes.

He spent part of last season on loan at West Bromwich Albion, and failed a medical which would have seen him sign with Sporting Lisbon in August over what SkySports described as a ‘disagreement over the state of his knee’.

The 27-year-old former Copa Libertadores winner has featured just six times for QPR in the Championship since, starting three matches.

He was among QPR’s highest earners and with his on pitch contribution this season minimal, his departure is welcome, even if there remains some residual disappointment that his spell at Loftus Road was not a success.
