QPR fans were delighted to see their former skipper score for Rangers against Celtic.
Rangers’ Clint Hill celebrates scoring their first goal
Clint Hill was Rangers’ unlikely hero as he helped his side claim a late draw in the Old Firm derby.
The veteran centre-back ensured Celtic did not make it a fourth successive win over Rangers, and salvaged some pride for his team in a spirited 1-1 draw.
Hill was a surprise signing for Rangers in the summer, joining as a free agent after his long spell with QPR expired.
He had previously captained QPR in the English Premier League, but was derided by Celtic fans as ‘past it’ when Rangers made their move for him.
QPR’s Clint Hill
Yesterday he showed that even at 38 he is good enough to make an impact in a game of enormous magnitude.
He has surpassed expectations at times this season despite Rangers’ poor form, and yesterday he helped keep Moussa Dembele quiet, despite his staggering 12 goals in his previous 6 games for Celtic.
Hill is still greatly admired by QPR fans, some of who were even talking after the game about bringing him back to the club in the future, potentially in a non-playing capacity.
