QPR beat FC Union Berlin 3-0 at Loftus Road on Saturday afternoon, rounding off a positive pre-season for Steve McClaren’s side

Queens Park Rangers prepared for their Championship opener in style, as they brushed aside FC Union Berlin 3-0 at Loftus Road on Saturday.

Goals from Bright Osayi-Samuel, Matt Smith – and an Ebere Eze penalty – sealed an impressive victory against the 2. Bundesliga club.

Next Saturday, QPR will be doing it all for real as they make the long trip to Deepdale to take on Preston in Steve McClaren’s first game as manager for the club.

It’ll be a tough game from the R’s perspective but there were plenty of positives to take from the 3-0 victory. It was a strong starting XI picked by McClaren and QPR played some neat, free-flowing football throughout.

Fans of the Hoops also got to see new signing Toni Leistner for the first time in W12, and the German defender looked confident and assured. Eze and Osayi-Samuel played really well and the former looked a class above at times.

There’s plenty for McClaren to ponder over between now and the Preston game, but rest assured QPR have provided the fans with an exciting pre-season, and a section of supporters have displayed their joy after Saturday’s win.
