Premier League pair Newcastle United and West Ham are reportedly looking to sign rising Championship starlet Ryan Manning from Queens Park Rangers.
Mark Warburton is not surprised to see Queens Park Rangers ace Ryan Manning catch the eye of West Ham United and Newcastle, telling West London Sport that the speculation is the inevitable result of his excellent form for the Championship side.
The Northern Echo reported recently that Newcastle were planning a £3 million deal to bring the Republic of Ireland U21 international to St James’ Park during the January transfer window while West Ham are also admirers of a player who has shone in an unfamiliar left-back role in recent months (London News).
Manning has been a revelation on the flanks since Warburton took over, having moved out wide despite spending much of his early career in the centre of midfield, and that versatility appears to have caught the eye of at least two Premier League clubs.
Warburton isn’t getting worried just yet, however, pointing out that the Galway-born youngster is happy with life at Loftus Road.
“Ryan’s been playing well and it’s part and parcel of the game that there’ll be speculation about a player who’s performing well,” admitted the former Nottingham Forest and Rangers boss.
“It doesn’t bother me and I know Ryan is happy here and knows he has to stay fully focused. In many ways the more speculation there is about players the better. It means they’re doing well.”
It looks set to be a testing transfer window for QPR, who are just two points adrift of the automatic promotion spots despite successive defeats to Brentford and Leeds.
Star man Ebere Eze is expected to have plenty of admirers from higher up the Football League while on-loan striker Nahki Wells has been linked with a permanent £6 million move to Birmingham City via The Sun (3 November, page 61).
