According to bookmakers BetVictor, Queens Park Rangers are 3/1 to land former Chelsea, West Ham United and England midfielder Joe Cole on a free-transfer.
Joe Cole, now 32, is out-of-contract after parting company with boyhood club West Ham United at the end of the season.
The former Chelsea winger, whilst suffering from injuries, has struggled to make a proper impact on first-team matters at the Boleyn ground this season, starting just six games.
‘I want to move back into a more central position and I want to go to the club where I have a good connection with the manager.
‘My relationship with West Ham is great, but obviously it didn’t work towards the end of the season, I didn’t play enough.’
‘I’m just going to take my time over the summer and find the right fit. At this stage finances are not important to me.’
Therefore, the link to Harry Redknapp makes complete sense, considering he was the man that gave him his first-team debut in 1999. A fresh faced 17-year-old Cole was handed a shirt in the third round tie against Swansea City and he didn’t look back from there.
He went on to become an important player, not only at club level, but internationally too. In fact, not many people will have forgotten the midfielder’s incredible goal vs Sweden in the 2006.
Queens Park Rangers are 3/1 to land Cole, however, both Brighton and Bournemouth have been priced up at 6/1. Although a move across the Atlantic isn’t out question with ‘Any MLS Club’ priced at 5/1.
