Gunners supporters were confused on Twitter after their 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

Is a draw ever a point gained or lost?

As far as Arsenal fans are concerned, it was a point lost yesterday, as the north London derby ended in a 1-1 draw between the Gunners and Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham side.

And Spurs even took the lead, as Nacer Chadli put the visitors 1-0 up in the second half. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain equalised but only after the introduction of Alexis Sanchez, whose entrance, in no uncertain terms, changed the game.

That impact left a lot of Arsenal supporters questioning why boss Arsene Wenger had refused to start him, keeping him on the bench and playing £42.4 million man Mesut Ozil down the left-hand side.

Wenger’s post-match comments didn’t shed any light on the matter, either…

So, why didn’t the Frenchman start his £35m summer signing?

Answers on a postcard, please. What is certain, however, is that Gunners fans were both puzzled and displeased by the decision. Even Wenger supporters simply admitted he got his starting line-up wrong.

After six Premier League games, Arsenal have now only won twice. But the north London side are still unbeaten, having drawn four of their six – and are still, crucially, in fourth place in the table.

That is higher the likes of Manchester United, Spurs, Liverpool and Everton and provides a silver lining that all supporters can appreciate. Back to the Sanchez decision, though, here are some of the best fan reactions on social media…
