Ian Wright says Fabio Vieira is ‘pushing for a start’ ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Everton on Sunday afternoon.
The Arsenal legend noted that Fabio Vieira has ‘done well’ for Mikel Arteta’s side during his various cameo appearances from the bench, as he told Premier League Productions (17/09/23 at 1:10 pm).
From the two games Fabio Vieira has played, he has supplied two assists, so will Mikel Arteta start him at Goodison Park today?
There is a chance because summer signing Kai Havertz hasn’t started as well as he would have liked.
Many are calling for the German to be benched, and if that happens, then you would imagine that it’s Vieira coming in.
Plus, you also have to factor in the Champions League next week. Arteta needs to start rotating his players sooner or rather than later, so once again, it increases Vieira’s chances to start.

Ian Wright praises Vieira
“They are still trying to find the formula that Arteta wants,” said Wright. “I think Timber was a big loss in how he started the season and pre-season, then getting injured when he did and Thomas Partey had to come in there.
“Now we are trying to find a formula where we are trying to play out from both sides, so we can make inroads into teams from every aspect of the defence.
“Kai Havertz is still bedding in. We have seen Fabio Vieira, he has come on and he has done well. Made a couple of good cameos. Pushing for a start (against Everton).”

Can Arsenal beat Everton?
Not since the Arsene Wenger days have Arsenal beaten the Toffees at Goodison Park, even during their struggles in recent years.
It wasn’t so long ago that the Gunners had the same issue against the likes of Crystal Palace, but they have since overcome that.
This isn’t the case of quality, but the mental block of winning at a stadium that, when the crowd are on the side of the home team, is very difficult to compete in as an away side.
