West Ham United take on Chelsea on Monday night in the Premier League, and HITC pundits give their predictions on the likely outcome.
West Ham United 2-1 Chelsea
Chelsea are running away with the league title, but this fixture could provide a hiccup for them. West Ham will be desperate to record a big statement win over their rivals at the London Stadium and I’m going to stick my neck out and say this could be their night.
West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic
West Ham United 1-3 Chelsea
The Blues just don’t look like losing at the moment and even a West Ham side in decent goalscoring form will struggle to contain the league leaders. They will need Andy Carroll to be at his best against Chelsea, like he was last season, to avoid defeat.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte
West Ham 1-3 Chelsea
West Ham have not been particularly convincing at home this season, whilst Chelsea continue to steamroll their way to the title. If Andy Carroll is back he could be a huge boost for the Hammers, but either way I expect Antonio Conte’s men to find a route to victory.
West Ham United 2-2 Chelsea
Chelsea seem to be unstoppable this season and the league title is all but in the bag. That said, a resurgent West Ham should cause them plenty of problems and hold out for an entertaining score draw.
West Ham United 0-2 Chelsea
West Ham have done well to turn around their difficult start to the season, but the recent 4-0 home defeat to Manchester City shows that their defence is vulnerable against the top sides of the division. Chelsea will continue their march to the title with a relatively comfortable win.
Chelsea’s Diego Costa
West Ham United 1-2 Chelsea
West Ham knocked Chelsea out of the EFL Cup here earlier in the campaign, but are likely to find the Blues in a different mood to the one that night. I fancy a narrow win for the champions-elect, which shouldn’t derail the Hammers’ pursuit of a top-10 finish.
