Tottenham Hotspur face Middlesbrough on Saturday in the Premier League, and HITC pundits give their predictions on the likely outcome.
Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 Middlesbrough
Could another disappointing result be on the cards for Tottenham? They looked out of sorts in midweek at Sunderland and as we saw earlier in the season, when it fails to click for them it was a slump which lasted several matches. Injured left-back Danny Rose will be a loss for them, and I’m tipping Middlesbrough to claim a surprise point.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino
Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Middlesbrough
Spurs were left frustrated by Sunderland’s bus-parking tactics in midweek and they could endure similar difficulties against another pragmatic North Eastern outfit. But Tottenham can’t go 180 minutes without a Premier League goal, can they?
Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka
Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Middlesbrough
Middlesbrough are a club at breaking point. Aitor Karanka appears to be determined to get himself the sack, and unless he justifies how outspoken he has been with results that may well be what happens. Tottenham are usually reliable against the ‘lesser’ teams, but for a disappointing draw at Sunderland, and should make amends in front of their home fans at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Middlesbrough
Tottenham need to get back to winning ways after the recent frustrating draw against Sunderland they should do it with relative ease against Middlesbrough. Spurs cannot afford to slip further behind Chelsea and Harry Kane should get a goal or two against Boro.
Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Middlesbrough
Following the disappointing draw against Sunderland, Spurs will know nothing but a win will do against Middlesbrough. Mauricio Pochettino will be without Danny Rose, but his side should have enough to dispatch a Boro team who haven’t won since before Christmas and boast a lone victory on their travels all season.
Middlesbrough’s Adama Traore in action with Tottenham’s Ben Davies
Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Middlesbrough
Tottenham’s fine run has stuttered of late and the absences of Jan Vertonghen, Danny Rose and Erik Lamela won’t make things easier. Boro, meanwhile, seem to have a lot of things bubbling in the background and I suspect that will play into Spurs’ hands.
