Liverpool take on Arsenal on Saturday in the Premier League, and HITC pundits give their predictions on the likely outcome.

Liverpool have stepped up in big games this year and flopped against everybody else, but this weekend they will discover they can’t just turn it on. Arsenal are more dangerous than they are given credit for, and they are up against a Liverpool side under even more pressure than they are.

In typical Liverpool fashion, they should bounce back from a humbling at struggling Leicester with a performance full of verve and energy against a fellow Champions League contender The Reds’ record against their rivals is excellent and that should continue with a goalfest at Anfield.

Liverpool 2-2 Arsenal

This game is a nightmare to predict. Liverpool were horrendous against Leicester and have been pretty shocking in 2017 in general, but so often their best performances have come against the top teams. Arsenal meanwhile have faltered so regularly against direct rivals, and that could lead many to fancy a home win. However, Liverpool’s defence is so shaky right now I think a score-draw could be on the cards.

Liverpool were hammered by Leicester City last time out and while the prospect of a home defeat may be slim I think the Gunners will have a little too much for a Reds side whose defence continues to struggle.

Liverpool can leapfrog Arsenal here with victory, and I think Jurgen Klopp will be able to fire up his side to produce a performance after the defeat to Leicester – especially at Anfield where they looked so impressive against Spurs. The Gunners aren’t playing well either.

Neither side will be confident going into this one and I suspect that will lead to a draw at Anfield. With fifth-placed Manchester United having played less games already, it’s a result that neither Liverpool nor Arsenal will want.
