Leeds United lost against Huddersfield Town in the Championship on Sunday.
Leeds United lost in the Championship at the weekend. The Whites went down 2-1 to Huddersfield Town away from home at the John Smith’s Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The performance of Garry Monk’s side was not exactly bad, but it was far from great. Defensively Leeds could have done better and Huddersfield probably deserved to pick up all three points from the encounter.
Garry Monk’s strong message on Twitter after Leeds United defeat
One Leeds player who cannot be held responsible for the defeat is Chris Wood. The New Zealand international striker has been a rejuvenated figure this season and is scoring goals for fun.

The 25-year-old striker was on target against Huddersfield on Sunday afternoon, tucking the ball in from close range in the 35th minute. It was the former West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City man’s 18th goal of the Championship this season.
Wood has scored just two fewer goals than Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle in the Championship this season. Gayle is the top scorer in the league at the moment, but there is a very good chance that the Leeds star could overtake him in the coming weeks and months.

Former Brighton & Hove Albion and Celtic player Adam Virgo was following the match between Huddersfield and Leeds on Sunday. After Wood scored for the Whites, Virgo made a remark on Twitter that should remind the Elland Road faithful how crucial the striker has been for the team so far this campaign.
