Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has excelled at Ibrox – and he’s unsurprisingly being touted for other jobs now.
Appointed in 2018, Gerrard has now guided Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title, and has ended Celtic’s hopes of 10 titles in a row.
Rangers have also been better than Celtic in Europe of late, with Gerrard shifting the balance in Glasgow.
Now, Tottenham Hotspur have a job opening having sacked Jose Mourinho on Monday morning, and the search for a successor is on.
Pundit Tony Cascarino has now told The Times that he thinks Gerrard is capable of filling the Tottenham role, and would excite Harry Kane given his profile in the game.
“One manager who looks capable of filling that role is Steven Gerrard,” said Cascarino. “People say he will be the next Liverpool manager but maybe not, or, if so, perhaps he will do another job before then. What he has done at Rangers is extraordinary: the way he handles himself in interviews and the huge improvement of the team on the pitch. Would he excite the likes of Harry Kane? I would say he would.”
Would Gerrard go to Spurs? It’s hard to imagine it right now give his project at Rangers and the fact that he has Champions League football to look forward to means a move doesn’t seem likely.

Cascarino added another name into the mix, suggesting that Marcelo Bielsa could ‘regenerate’ Spurs.
Cascarino believes Leeds United boss Bielsa could work wonders with Kane and Dele Alli based on how he has developed Leeds players, but doubts that he would leave the Whites despite his contract being up this summer.
“Marcelo Bielsa would be another who could regenerate Tottenham. If he can make average players as good as they are Leeds United, imagine that he could do with Kane and Dele Alli. But I doubt he would consider leaving Elland Road,” he added.
