Leeds United beat Brentford 1-0 at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.

Pundit and former Leeds United defender Tony Dorigo has taken to Twitter to praise the Whites for their 1-0 home win over Brentford on Saturday afternoon.

Leeds were missing striker Chris Wood following his injury in midweek against Reading, and after misses from Luke Ayling and Souleymane Doukara, it looked like Garry Monk’s side would be left frustrated by the visiting Bees.

However, after Stuart Dallas worked a short corner, he crossed in for Kyle Bartley to nod home after beating Daniel Bentley to the ball, handing Leeds a 1-0 win in the 89th minute.

The numbers continue to look great for Leeds; they have now won seven of their last nine Championship games, they sit fifth in the Championship table and just two points behind third-placed Reading, though remain ten points off an automatic place.

Another factor that will please manager Monk is that Leeds are in great form at Elland Road. In the last five home games, Leeds have lost just once, winning the other four whilst keeping clean sheets in each of those victories.

Summer signing Robert Green, Luke Ayling, Kyle Bartley and Pontus Jansson have made Leeds one of the best defensive units in the Championship, whilst the presence of Monk – a centre back in his playing days – may have helped Leeds form a cohesive defence.

After Saturday’s latest home win and clean sheet, former Leeds defender and current pundit Tony Dorigo took to Twitter to react to the victory – and drew attention to the home form and defensive prowess.

Dorigo admitted that Leeds have found a ‘nice habit’ with their Elland Road wins and clean sheets, before noting that Leeds only needed to have one shot on target to win the game and claim all three points.
