Jose Enrique has suggested on Twitter Barcelona midfielder and reported Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong as a potential target for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
The former Liverpool star has noted that Barcelona are having financial problems.
And the pundit has suggested that Liverpool could have a chance to sign De Jong in the summer of 2023.
According to The Guardian, Manchester United want to sign the Netherlands international midfielder in the summer transfer window.
United manager Erik ten Hag wanted to bring the 25-year-old to Old Trafford last summer, and the Dutchman reportedly remains keen on signing his compatriot.
De Jong was linked with a move to Liverpool in the summer of 2022 as well.
The Times reported on August 27, 2022 that the Merseyside club were considering a move for the £232,000-a-week (SalarySport) Barcelona star.
Liverpool, who will face Manchester United at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday, have not been linked with De Jong since.
De Jong has made 17 starts and four substitute appearances in La Liga for Barcelona so far this season.

The Dutchman has scored two goals and provided one assist in those games.
The Barcelona no. 21 has also made two appearances in the UEFA Europa League and four appearances in the UEFA Champions League this campaign.
