Troy Deeney has told talkSPORT that he thinks Wolves will have a problem keeping Raul Jimenez at Molineux if they don’t get into the top six.

Deeney said: ‘He can link play, he can score left foot, right foot and he’s got ability to grow and be a much better, all-round player. He’s only going to get better. Wolves will have a problem keeping him if they don’t get in the top six in the next 18 months or so.’

The Watford striker has a point, as Jimenez’s stock is increasing with each passing game as he continues to prove himself as an elite striker.

Additionally, at 29 years of age, the Mexico international may potentially want to test himself at a bigger club if Wolves aren’t matching his ambitions in around 18 months, as he is soon to enter the final stage of his career.

Having said that, Nuno Espirito Santo has more than proven that he’s capable of guiding Wolves to such heights.

The Midlands-based outfit finished seventh last season, missing out on sixth place by just three goals as Tottenham pipped them to a Europa League place on goal difference.

In that season, the former Benfica hitman scored an eye-catching 27 goals while also assisting ten more, which signalled a world-class campaign for the Wolves No.9.

Deeney is right to say Wolves should be worried if they aren’t helping Jimenez – who cost a club-record £30 million when he arrived – play European football.

However, that potential worry shouldn’t be a huge concern given the club’s brilliance under Nuno so far.

With the addition of players like Nelson Semedo, Fabio Silva, Ki-Jana Hoever and Rayan Aït-Nouri, the sky seems to be the limit for Wolves.
