Newcastle United turned in a truly dismal performance on Saturday night as they were beaten 3-0 away at Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Magpies fell behind to a Leandro Trossard strike before Danny Welbeck and Neal Maupay wrapped up a comfortable win for Brighton.
Newcastle barely laid a glove on the Seagulls, with Ryan Fraser hitting the post the closest they came to scoring on the South Coast.
Steve Bruce’s side had just 34% of possession, three shots on goal and just one shot on target, whilst Brighton completed nearly twice as many passes.
Bruce’s style of play has come in for huge criticism, and it’s hard to disagree after seeing Brighton play them off the park last night.
Newcastle sit just two points clear of the relegation zone, and are now four points adrift of Brighton as fears begin to rise.

Pundit Don Hutchison – a boyhood Newcastle fan having been born in Gateshead – has taken to Twitter in order to react to last night’s display.
He suggested that Brighton boss Potter would be faring much better than Bruce, claiming that not only would he have Newcastle playing better football, but would have them comfortably in midtable.
