Paul Robinson has said on Amazon Prime Video (5:17pm, May 1, 2021) that Ezgjan Alioski may never play for Leeds United again.
The former Leeds goalkeeper, who now works as a pundit for Amazon Prime Video and Sky Sports, was not impressed by the performance of Alioski during Leeds’s 2-0 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League this afternoon.
The 29-year-old North Macedonia international left-back gave away the penalty for the first goal.
Alioski, who is actually a winger by trade, committed a rather clumsy foul on Danny Welbeck inside the penalty area, and Pascal Gross made no mistake in converting the spot kick.
The 29-year-old was taken off at half time, and it did not appear that the North Macedonia international had any injury problems.
Alioski is out of contract at Leeds at the end of the season, and Robinson believes that the 29-year-old may have played his last game for the Whites already.
Robinson said on Amazon Prime Video (5:17pm, May 1, 2021) when asked if this will be Alioski’s last appearance for Leeds: “Potentially. I think he got dragged off at half time against Arsenal a few weeks ago.
“I think there was a lot of thought that maybe that may have been his last game, but he managed to get back into the side, get back into the team.
“With his contract up at the end of the season, getting brought off at half time today, it wasn’t an injury by the look of it.”
No future at Leeds United?
With the season to end soon, it does seem likely that Alioski will leave Leeds this summer. After all, if a contract was to be signed, it would have been by now.
Leeds still have four more Premier League games left this season, and it will be interesting to see if head coach Marcelo Bielsa picks the 29-year-old in his starting lineup for those matches.
