Tottenham Hotspur defender Radu Dragusin is set for a huge summer as he prepares to turn out for Romania at Euro 2024.
Ange Postecoglou desperately needed another centre back in January.
Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are a superb combination but respective suspension and injury problems left Tottenham exposed at the back.
In came Radu Dragusin as Tottenham plucked the Romanian international from Genoa in something of a transfer coup.
Bayern Munich also wanted Dragusin in January but Tottenham managed to convince him into making the £26million move to North London.
Dragusin has struggled for starts so far, landing a spot in Postecoglou’s lineup four times following his January move.

That may not be ideal for Romania given that they are in Euro 2024 action this summer.
Dragusin is their leading man at centre back and Romania really need him to be in top form for some big games this summer.
Romania take on Ukraine, Belgium and Slovakia in their Euro 2024 group with a real chance at progression into the knockout stages.
Dragusin’s lack of starts in the early stages of his Tottenham career have been a real topic of discussion over in Romania.
Former FCSB boss Laurentiu Reghecampf has now offered his verdict to sport.ro as Romania’s Euro 2024 opener draws closer.
Reghecampf wants to see Dragusin become ‘much more convincing’ in a Romania shirt, believing that he needs to establish himself as a real leader in the team.
Reghecampf also feels that Dragusin will leave Tottenham for ‘another top team’ if he doesn’t receive major playing time moving forward.
The belief is that Dragusin is already good enough to choose a big move elsewhere with Romanians certainly backing him to become a star in the coming years – even if it isn’t with Tottenham.
“I would like him to establish himself much more in the national team, that is, his appearances to be much more convincing,” said Reghecampf. “To be a leader, you don’t have to talk.”
“To establish himself in England, yes I’m sure he will or if not he will go to another top team, also in a strong championship, he has reached a level where he can choose and reach good teams.
Dragusin should stay at Tottenham
We can’t see Dragusin leaving Tottenham this summer.
The centre back knew what he was signing up for upon joining Spurs in January.
Romero and Van de Ven are so good that they would almost always be the first-choice pairing for Postecoglou.
The challenge for Dragusin is to develop and take his game to another level in order to break into the side and potentially stay there.
Romero may attract some interest from elsewhere and Dragusin needs to be ready to go if that happens.
There is so much talent and potential in Dragusin and a big summer awaits as he looks to shine for Romania and then impress in Tottenham’s pre-season plans.
The next few months will be huge for Dragusin and we would want to see him stay at Tottenham rather than attempt to engineer a rather swift exit.
