Should Arsenal approach former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, currently in charge of Celtic?

Charlie Nicholas has been quoted as saying by The Scottish Sun that Brendan Rodgers should be a contender for the Arsenal managerial job.

Rodgers is in charge of Celtic at the moment, having been appointed in the role in the summer of 2016.

The former Liverpool manager has done a wonderful job at Celtic Park so far, with the Bhoys set to win the Scottish Premiership title this season.

Arsene Wenger is currently in charge of Arsenal, but the Frenchman’s contract runs out at the end of the season and a new deal has yet to be signed.

Former Chelsea and Arsenal forward Nicholas, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, has suggested that Rodgers would be a good successor to Wenger at the Emirates Stadium.

“I apologise now to Celtic fans because they’ll be on my case, but of course he would,” Nicholas is quoted as saying by The Scottish Sun when asked if Rodgers would be a contender for the Arsenal managerial job.

“He’s building his stock back up. He went to win things at Celtic and he’s got two trophies in the cabinet already, potentially a third is staring him in the face with the Old Firm derby coming up.”

“He’s on a decent salary and he’s deserved it and merited it, but absolutely, if Arsenal are looking at a list of names to replace Arsene, Rodgers would be on it,” added Nicholas.

“He plays the Arsenal way. He played the same style at Liverpool and he probably should have won the league. Everything is there for me to say absolutely.”

Rodgers nearly guided Liverpool to the Premier League title in 2013-14, and there can no doubt that he is a very good manager.

One wonders what Arsenal fans would make if the former Swansea City boss became the first-team manager at the Emirates…
