A Chelsea captain moving to Tottenham Hotspur.

That could become a reality if Spurs can secure a transfer deal for Conor Gallagher during the January window.

Chris Sutton was left baffled by this rumour and stated that it’s ‘staggering’ that someone considered so highly by Chelsea could be moving to their bitter rivals, as he told the It’s All Kicking Off Podcast

Conor Gallagher has had numerous loan spells away from Stamford Bridge over the years, but in recent seasons, he has been trying to cement himself as a key Chelsea player.

The Blues have had a habit of selling their academy players and then they would go on to become far better than what Chelsea have at their disposal.

Well, Tottenham might get a taste of that if they can pull off a deal for the 23-year-old – it has been suggested that Spurs are working on a deal for the player.

If that happens, then Chris Sutton thinks it doesn’t look good on Chelsea.

Conor Gallagher to Tottenham?

“That is remarkable that we’re talking about one of Chelsea’s best players moving to Tottenham in a January transfer window,” said Sutton.

“It shouldn’t work that way around really, when was the last time something like this happened?

“I honestly can’t think of it. It’s staggering to think of the Chelsea captain moving to Tottenham.”

Conor Gallagher suits Ange Postecoglou’s style

Tottenham have proven to be one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season and one of the most entertaining teams to watch – it even forced Paul Merson to change his mind on them.

Regardless of the opposition, Spurs will play on the front foot under Ange Postecoglou.

Someone like Gallagher suits his system down to the bone because of his ability to play various roles in midfield, including the ability to score goals.

But, most importantly, he is a workaholic and not many players press in the aggressive manner like he does.
