Pundit slams Celtic board, thinks Brendan Rodgers has proven he was right to leave

Pundit Davie Provan has told The Scottish Sun that he thinks Celtic are ‘ignoring’ European failure right now.

The Bhoys were dismantled by Sparta Prague on Thursday night, losing 4-1 at home to the Czech side in their latest European nightmare.

Neil Lennon’s men have taken just one point from three Europa League games this season, and crashed out of the Champions League qualifiers with a shock defeat to Ferencvaros.

With Rangers impressing in the league too, Celtic fans are quite disgruntled right now – and the European struggles are only increasing the frustration.

Thursday night also saw Leicester City smash Braga 4-0 at home, with Brendan Rodgers enjoying some European success with the Foxes.

Pundit Provan noted that Rodgers’ European win makes it abundantly clear why he left Celtic for a move to the King Power Stadium.

Provan believes that Celtic are now ignoring European failure, and whilst Lennon is receiving most of the criticism right now, it’s the Celtic board who are to blame for the problems.

“As Celtic were shipping four to Sparta Prague, Leicester were taking four off Braga to sit top of their Europa League group with maximum points,” said Provan. “Anyone watching a weakened Sparta side take Celts apart will recognise why Brendan Rodgers left for the Foxes.”

“By ignoring European failure, the ten-in-a-row brigade are doing the club no favours. Neil Lennon is taking the rap but the Hoops’ demise goes to the very top of the house,” he added.
