Feyenoord playmaker Orkun Kokcu is a wanted man – but he’s come in for big criticism over in the Netherlands.
The Turkish playmaker hit three goals and six assists last season, and has now three goals and two assists this term.
An ankle injury slowed down his progress this term, but he is back fit and firing now, scoring in last weekend’s 1-1 home draw with bottom of the table Emmen.
La Razon claim that Sevilla want Kokcu, but Leeds United have joined the race to sign Kokcu as they seek a long-term successor for Pablo Hernandez.
Leeds have history of dealing with Feyenoord having signed Crysencio Summerville from them last summer, and Kokcu could now be signed for around £10million.
That’s an appealing price for the 20-year-old, but despite his huge potential, he is being criticised for his recent comments.
Feyenoord’s 1-1 draw with Emmen was seen as an embarrassing result given their struggles this season, but Kokcu felt he played well, as quoted by Voetbalzone.

Pundit Hugo Borst was stunned, claiming Kokcu’s comments were ‘really unbelievable’, accusing him of being ‘busy with himself’ rather than thinking about the team.
“This is really unbelievable, isn’t it?” said Borst. “Did you see the sparkle in his eyes? Very nice to hear that you were selected, but you are five minutes after the match you drew 1-1 against the number eighteen … He thought he had played well!”
“Aside from the fact that he didn’t play well, maybe he did nice things now and then, of course you have to answer: “It doesn’t matter if I played well, we left two damn points here.” That doesn’t work out, because the boy is busy with himself. He is not at all concerned with Feyenoord. That boy is busy with his career, with the selection for the Turkish team. Quite understandable, but keep it to yourself,” he added.
That’s something for Leeds to keep an eye on, as everyone at Elland Road has to buy into the vision of the team under Marcelo Bielsa.
