Has Gareth Bale turned a corner at Tottenham Hotspur?

The Welshman posted a brilliant 45-minute performance for Spurs yesterday but couldn’t help steer the team away from a 2-1 defeat at West Ham United.

Bale, who replaced Erik Lamela at half-time, set up Tottenham’s goal through Lucas Moura and also saw his shot skim the crossbar late on.

It was an all-action performance from a player with quite a lot to prove during what’s been an underwhelming return to the North London club.

For whatever reason, Lilywhites boss Jose Mourinho, who’s started him in only two Premier League games, isn’t convinced by him.

But former Tottenham star Gary Stevens has intimated that his lack of playing time certainly isn’t linked to his attitude or behaviour behind the scenes.

The Stadium Astro pundit suggested he’s been told that the Real Madrid-owned attacker has been nothing but a positive influence at Hotspur Way this season.

He said: “He needs to [finish the season strongly]. So far, with the exception of this 45 minutes and the game in Europe, he hasn’t done strongly for Spurs on the park. My understanding is around the facilities and training ground he’s been a positive person, a good influence. He’s trained well.”
