Speaking on the OTB Football Podcast, John Giles has been speaking about Liverpool and their star man Virgil van Dijk.
The defender has returned to the side this season after a long spell on the sidelines with injury, and he looks as though he hasn’t missed a single beat.
Liverpool have one of the best defensive records in the Premier League, and van Dijk has played a massive part in that.
Giles has been full of praise for van Dijk and he reckons the Dutchman is getting better and better with every game he plays.
What’s been said?
Giles was discussing van Dijk.
“Away from home, It was a fantastic result (against Porto), but they’ve got van Dijk, he’s come back and he looks better and better with every game he plays getting his match fitness back. They’ll take a bit of stopping, there’s no doubt about that,” Giles said.

Still room to improve
It sounds crazy to say it, but we still may not have seen the best of van Dijk since his return.
He’s already looking like one of the Reds’ most important players this season, but let’s not forget, at his peak he was genuinely in the conversation as one of the best players in the world.
Giles is right, van Dijk is getting fitter and fitter with every single game and as he continues to get back into the groove he’ll only improve.
Liverpool will certainly be title contenders if they can keep van Dijk fit for the entirety of this campaign.
