Tottenham Hotspur will face Sunderland in the Premier League on Sunday.
Former Arsenal midfielder Adrian Clarke has written on Premierleague.com that it would be harsh on Victor Wanyama if he loses his place in the Tottenham Hotspur starting lineup.
Wanyama joined Tottenham from Premier League rivals Southampton in the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old defensive midfielder has been an important place for Spurs so far this season.
However, there is a danger that the Kenya international could lose his place in the Tottenham starting lineup due to the availability of Moussa Dembele.
The 29-year-old Belgium international midfielder has served his suspension and is available for the Premier League game against Sunderland on Sunday evening.
Former Arsenal midfielder Clarke, who now works as a pundit, believes that it would be harsh on Wanyama if he loses his place in the Tottenham team.
“With his six-match suspension completed, Dembele is available for selection this weekend and will force a decision on Pochettino: Does he bring him straight back into the fold at the expense of Victor Wanyama?” Clarke wrote on Premierleague.com.
“If Wanyama loses his place it will be harsh on the summer signing from Southampton. He has formed a physically intimidating double-pivot pairing with Dier, which has kept Spurs solid.
“Scoring once, and generally looking at home in his new surroundings the Kenyan has impressed.”
Wanyama has played well for Tottenham so far this season, scoring one goal and creating two chances in four Premier League matches.
Spurs have picked up eight points from four matches in the league so far this campaign.
The North London outfit will head into the match against Sunderland at White Hart Lane on the back of a 2-1 defeat to AS Monaco in the Champions League.
