Speaking on the BBC Radio Five Live Football Daily Podcast, Paul Dickov has been speaking about Alexandre Lacazette and his recent resurgence at Arsenal.
The Frenchman is now one of the first names on the teamsheet at Arsenal, and while he’s not scoring many goals, he’s turning out to be a key player for Mikel Arteta.
Indeed, Lacazette has been linking play and creating chances brilliantly, but he didn’t start the season in this way.
Lacazette was behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the Arsenal pecking order at one point, and while Dickov reckons that must have been frustrating for the striker, he says he’s thriving now.
What’s been said?
Dickov spoke about Lacazette’s recent resurgence.
“I think a big thing for the younger players has been Lacazette, his experience, his know-how how he’s been leading the line and his leadership more than anything else has been fantastic. He must have been so frustrated before because if Aubameyang was fit, Aubameyang played, but now he’s getting a run in the team as the captain and the leader and he’s thriving on it,” Dickov said.

New contract?
Lacazette looks like a great fit for this Arsenal team right now, and we have to wonder, will he get a new contract now?
The striker is out of contract in the summer, and all the signs have pointed towards his departure at the end of the season.
However, now it appears that he could be a real asset for Arteta’s Arsenal going forward, and perhaps the Gunners may be considering giving him a new deal.
