Pundit says Antonio Conte has a ‘big decision’ to make about one player

Speaking on ESPN, Nedum Onuoha has been discussing Heung-Min Son and his recent poor form for Tottenham.

The Spurs attacker, quite simply, hasn’t been at his best so far this season.

Last year, Son was the hottest striker in the Premier League, co-winning the Golden Boot alongside Mohamed Salah, but six games into this campaign he’s yet to find the back of the net and his all-around play has been lacking.

Richarlison, on the other hand, while he’s yet to score a Premier League goal, he’s looked like a livewire every time he’s come on, and there have been some calls to put the Brazilian into the XI ahead of Son.

Onuoha accepts that Richarlison is pushing Son for a place in the team, and the pundit claims that Conte has a big decision to make over the winger.

Onuoha discussed the issue Conte has with Richarlison and Son.

“The pressure is coming because Richarlison is on the bench and Richarlison is coming on and having a major impact. So for Son when you see that he’s not scoring those goals, for Conte it’s a big decision as to if he’s doing everything else really well, because on the bench there’s someone who seems more dynamic at this moment in time and who is having a bigger impact. It feels crazy to think about Son not starting for Spurs,” Onuoha said.

Impossible call

Conte is stuck between a rock and a hard place with Richarlison and Son.

On one hand, Richarlison probably deserves to get a start ahead of Son due to the pair’s respective recent form, but Son is on the verge of being a Tottenham legend at this point, and it’s almost impossible to drop a player like that without backlash from within the fanbase and even within the squad sometimes.

In our view, Son probably deserves to retain his spot for a few more weeks, but if he doesn’t find his shooting boots soon, it may be time for Richarlison to come into the team.
