Darren Huckerby has mocked Arsenal on Twitter for paying over £70 million for Nicolas Pepe, amid speculation linking Emiliano Buendia with the Gunners.

Goal.com reported earlier today that Arsenal are interested in signing Buendia from Norwich City in the summer transfer window.

The report claimed that the 24-year-old attacking midfielder is keen on making a switch to Arsenal this summer.

The Canaries reportedly want £40 million as transfer fee for the Argentine playmaker.

Former Norwich star Huckerby, who now works as a pundit, believes that the ex-Getafe star is a brilliant footballer, and has mocked Arsenal for paying £72 million for Pepe, as reported by BBC Sport.

Buendia was brilliant for Norwich this season and played a key role in the club winning automatic promotion to the Premier League.

The 24-year-old scored 15 goals and gave 16 assists in 39 Championship matches for the Canaries this season.

During the 2019-20 campaign, the attacking midfielder scored one goal and gave seven assists in 28 Premier League starts.

If Martin Odegaard does not return to Arsenal on loan from Real Madrid for next season, then Buendia would be a good long-term replacement.

The Argentine is experienced, scores goals and creates chances, and he could form a strong partnership with Emile Smith Rowe in attacking midfield.

Buendia reportedly being keen on a move to Arsenal also bodes well for the Gunners.

It means that it would be an advantage for Arsenal during talks with Norwich over the Argentine.
