It looks like Rangers hitman Jermain Defoe wants to do one more season at Rangers.

The legendary striker is out of contract at Ibrox this summer but Defoe revealed to talkSPORT last week that ‘it would be hard’ to call it a day this season, where there were no fans for virtually the whole campaign.

Defoe, who turns 39 in October, also intimated that he has spoken to manager Steven Gerrard and director of football Ross Wilson regarding a new contract.

And Tam McManus has told PLZ Soccer that it’s a ‘no-brainer’ for the Rangers duo to keep the former England international in Glasgow.

He said: “I think it’s a no-brainer for Rangers to try and keep him in some sort of role because he is a fantastic pro and still got a bit to offer on the pitch as well.”

Defoe only managed 14 games across all competitions for Rangers this season due to injury, but still managed four goals.

Gerrard might or might not be losing Alfredo Morelos this summer and if he does, it’s even more important to keep Defoe around.

The Tottenham Hotspur legend is certainly past his best, but he can still be an asset whether that’s on the bench or just in the squad in general.
