Arthur Melo has broken his silence on the latest blow in his Liverpool career.

The Brazil international joined Jurgen Klopp’s side on a season-long loan from Juventus this past summer.

However, a lack of fitness means that the 26-year-old has only managed 13 minutes of competitive football for Liverpool’s senior outfit since arriving on deadline day.

Arthur was praised for how much dedication he showed in getting fit during the international break, playing a number of Under-21 fixtures.

But the player was ruled out for potentially four months last week [The Athletic] with another injury and here’s what he wrote on Instagram yesterday:

Here’s how Jose Enrique reacted to the ‘sad news’ on Twitter:

According to James Pearce of The Athletic, Arthur won’t play again for Liverpool this year and Enrique is right in saying that it definitely represents sad news.

The South American seemed genuinely invested in making himself a success at Anfield and although that’s still possible, the journey is now much more difficult.

HITC Sport wrote about how the player might already be finished on Merseyside in light of this blow and although hopefully Arthur can bounce back to be an asset for Klopp, you have to say that it looks unlikely at this point.

Liverpool will surely strengthen their midfield options during the January transfer window and if Arthur – who earns £125,000 per week [SalarySport] – is still unavailable by then, cancelling the loan makes sense.
