Perry Groves says he’s ‘not sure’ about one-time Tottenham Hotspur manager target Julian Nagelsmann becoming Germany’s next manager.

The former Arsenal player spoke about how the 36-year-old ‘talked himself out’ of becoming Tottenham Hotspur’s manager before Ange Postecoglou took charge and how he is ‘very forthright’ in his thoughts, as he told talkSPORT.

Groves thinks that could work against Julian Nagelsmann as Germany are now looking for a new manager after sacking Hansi Flick following the 4-1 defeat to Japan on home soil.

Back in March, Nagelsmann was sacked by Bayern Munich, who brought in former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, as he nearly managed to mess up the club’s chances of winning an 11th Bundesliga title in a row.

There were some who felt that Bayern letting go of Nagelsmann was harsh, with a host of top clubs across Europe looking to bring him in, including Tottenham Hotspur after they booted out Antonio Conte.

But nothing materialised, with Groves now sharing his thoughts on how the highly-rated coach could now possibly land his nation’s most important role.

Nagelsmann as Germany’s next manager?

“Do you think the character of Nagelsmann might go against him?” asked Groves.

On past Tottenham links: “He’s very, very forthright in his opinions. He knows exactly what he wants. There are a few jobs he has gone to which everyone thought he was going to be the favourite and he seemed like he has managed to talk himself out of them all. Or his demands that he wanted.

“You just mentioned there that this isn’t an elite group of German players. Would he want to put himself in that situation? I am not sure.”

Nagelsmann to the Premier League?

Still in his 30’s, the attack-minded coach has a lot left in his tank to, one day, manage in the English Premier League.

As of this moment, it’s where the money is and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he is taking to the dugout of an English side sooner rather than later.

Of course, becoming Germany’s next manager would delay that, and you would think if it’s not Jurgen Klopp becoming his nation’s boss, then Nagelsmann would be next on the list.
