Gabriel Agbonlahor has picked Bukayo Saka over David Beckham in his an England all-time XI on talkSPORT.

The former Manchester United superstar captained the Three Lions from 2000 to 2006.

While the legendary winger was often vilified by his nation’s supporters, he produced several iconic moments.

One being his famous free-kick against Greece in the dying embers to send England to the 2002 World Cup.

As for Saka, he has been a revelation for Gareth Southgate’s side so far.

During Euro 2020, the Arsenal poster boy shone for his country, who finished as runners-up.

In England’s 2022 World Cup opener against Iran as well, the 21-year-old won the Man of the Match after bagging a brilliant brace.

Agbonlahor picks Saka over Beckham in an England all-time XI

On talkSPORT, Gabby Agbonlahor made the bold claim by justifying, “[David] Beckham played very well for England but this lad, [Bukayo] Saka..”

“Honestly, I rate him so highly. He’s one of the first names on the team sheet. He’s outstanding, quick, can score, look at his composure on Monday.”

He concluded, “I’d have Saka on the right [wing of an all-time England XI over David Beckham].

Saka is well on course to succeeding Beckham’s England legacy

Even if you disagree with this take currently, Bukayo Saka could outperform David Beckham in an England shirt as time progresses.

In his short stint for his country, the Gunners superstar has been one of the side’s best performers by some distance.

With the Three Lions set to go relatively deep in Qatar, he is likely to play a major part in their success.

While Beckham was a class act on several occasions, he struggled to replicate his form at club level, as with most English players due to the tactical inadequacies that plagued the ‘Golden Generation.’

As Bukayo Saka is an instant fit in Gareth Southgate’s system, Gabriel Agbonlahor could be proved right in time.
