Pundit Tony Dorigo, who played for Leeds United in the 90s has said that Weston McKennie is the perfect signing.

For now, the USA international has only joined Jesse Marsch’s side on loan from Juventus.

However, there is no denying the £49,000-a-week star’s quality, as was on display during the World Cup as well as in Turin for a number of years.

Pundit praises the Weston McKennie signing

As a result, it is no surprise to discover that pundit Tony Dorigo was a fan of Leeds United snapping up Weston McKennie, albeit on a temporary basis until the end of the 2022/2023 season.

“With Klichy [Mateusz Klich] going, the [Weston] McKennie move is just perfect because we need that box-to-box player. We [Leeds] were linked with various people but McKennie was the one that I wanted and I am delighted that we have got him because I have seen a lot of him at Juventus and I know exactly what he can do”, the pundit wrote in the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The midfielder ticks so many boxes as a brilliant coup for Leeds

For starters, considering the 24-year-old has been signed on loan, the club have the option of letting him in go, in the event that he fails to live up to the billing.

However, as the pundit suggests, it is unlikely that Weston McKennie will not boss proceedings at Leeds United.

As Dorigo said, the Coppa Italia winner is excellent as a box-to-box midfielder, a role that both Tyler Adams and Marc Roca are not particularly suited to, as they are natural No.6’s.

Furthermore, McKennie showcased at the World Cup that his partnership in the middle of the park with Adams is simply sensational, which will likely be the case at club level as well.

Taking all factors into consideration, the pundit is spot on when hyping up just how brilliant a signing Weston McKennie is for Leeds.
