Leeds United manager Garry Monk has impressed with the job he has done at Elland Road.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Premier League Daily today, former Arsenal striker Alan Smith offered high praise for the job being done by Garry Monk at Elland Road, highlighting how he has stabilised the West Yorkshire outfit during his time there.

The Whites have been on a mightily impressive run of form of late, and currently sit in fifth position in the Championship table, just two points adrift of third placed Reading.

It is quite incredible, considering Leeds’ current position, that Monk was actually in danger of losing his job just three games into the season, after his side had taken just a single point from a possible nine available.

And Smith believes the former Swansea City boss deserves so much credit for steadying what was a very chaotic ship at Elland Road, when speaking live on Sky Sports’ Premier League Daily:

“Monk has brought in an element of stability at Elland Road and imprinted what he wants. There’s less interference from the owner. It has been chaotic at Leeds, but I’m pleased for him. It would be fantastic to have Leeds back in the top flight, they’re a sleeping giant. They would be a welcome addition to the Premier League.”

Leeds face a crucial run of fixtures over the Christmas period, including back-to-back trips to Preston North-End and Aston Villa, and those games could prove to have a defining impact on their chances of promotion to the Premier League this season.
