Celtic are going through a difficult time at the moment, and many pundits are offering their views on the struggles at Parkhead.

The Bhoys were beaten 2-0 by Ross County on Sunday afternoon, crashing out of the Scottish League Cup in rather embarrassing circumstances.

Add in that Celtic were dumped out of the Champions League qualifiers by Ferencvaros, lost at home to Rangers and have endured a dismal Europa League campaign too.

Neil Lennon’s position is now in real danger, and Celtic need to turn things around quickly if they’re to salvage their hopes of winning a tenth league title in a row.

There hasn’t been much to shout about of late, but the performances of loanee Diego Laxalt have at least been a small positive.

The Uruguayan joined on loan from AC Milan in October, and he been turning in lively displays at left back, even scoring a late equaliser against Hibernian last weekend.

Celtic would no doubt love to keep Laxalt permanently, but pundit Kris Boyd has now offered bizarre comments to The Scottish Sun about Laxalt.

Boyd feels that Greg Taylor was made a scapegoat for poor displays, and doesn’t think Laxalt is better than Taylor despite being a bigger name – comments that Celtic fans will be baffled by given how much they love him.

“Greg Taylor appears to have been made the scapegoat for some of the woeful displays,” said Boyd. “Diego Laxalt was brought in to replace him but, while he has a more glamorous name and backstory, I doubt very much whether he is an upgrade on Taylor,” he added.
