Pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor has taken a swipe at Leeds manager Jesse Marsch, saying that all his touchline antics are performative, unlike in the case of Mikel Arteta.

After Arsenal were held to a 0-0 draw against Newcastle United, Arteta received pelters from fans and pundits alike about going overboard on the touchline while protesting against potential fouls.

Even Jamie O’Hara told the Spanish tactician to ‘calm down’ and ‘stop acting like a fan’ in the aftermath of the contest.

Amidst this constant discourse surrounding Mikel Arteta, another talkSPORT pundit has found a way to make a major talking point by criticising Leeds boss Jesse March.

Marsch, ever since his arrival in the Premier League has cemented his reputation as one of the most animated managers in the division.

Much like any and every Leeds supporter, it almost seems like the £80,000-a-week man fights for every ball during games.

However, this habit of the American coach seems to have rubbed many the wrong way.

One of them happens to be one of the most controversial voices in the game.

Pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor has called Leeds tactician Jesse Marsch for his touchline antics, which he feels are all for the cameras while defending Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

“People don’t like [Mikel] Arteta’s actions during the game but I love it. I think Jesse Marsch, it’s all for show at Leeds.”

“But I feel like Arteta, he really is passionate about winning the Premier League and trophies”, the pundit said on talkSPORT.

In our view: Marsch criticism is baseless

It is rather baffling that the talkSPORT pundit has decided to slate Leeds manager Jesse Marsch for his touchline antics, accusing him of doing it all for show.

There is no proof Gabriel Agbonlahor has that there is any difference between Marsch and Arteta’s actions.

When criticism has zero basis is when it blurs the lines between constructive and personal, which is what seems to have occurred in this instance.
