West Ham United bolstered their hopes of European qualification on Sunday afternoon as they beat Leicester City 3-2 at the London Sadium.

The Hammers were 2-0 up at half time as Jesse Lingard continued his remarkable form with another two goals.

Jarrod Bowen aded a third after the break, but after blowing a 3-0 lead against Arsenal and then narrowly hanging onto another one against Wolverhampton Wanderers, fans were still worried.

They were right to be; Leicester hit back in the second half with a Kelechi Iheanacho brace, and were forced to hang on for dear life in the dying stages.

West Ham got the win though, and will have very real hope of finishing in the top four as their stunning season under David Moyes continues.

One player who stood strong was Issa Diop, who turned in a fine performance as he attempts to get his Hammers career back on track.

Diop has a bit-part figure for much of the season, with Liverpool even making an enquiry into his signature during the January transfer window according to The Athletic.

The Frenchman was praised on Twitter by pundit Trevor Sinclair, who felt that Diop ‘turned a corner’ against Leicester by turning in a strong performance.

With Liverpool still being linked with a number of new centre backs, who can really rule out a future move for Diop?

It’s clear that the Reds like Diop, and with his form now returning, he will surely be on their radar again.

Diop may not be a big-name capture like compatriot Ibrahima Konate, but there’s untapped potential there – and more performances like these will surely leave Liverpool interest.
