Arsenal suffered a 1-0 defeat against Aston Villa on Tuesday. The defeat meant that the Gunners will finish outside the top six for the first time in over two decades which is a real disappointment for everyone associated with the club.

As disappointed as Arsenal fans are after the result, there is one other Premier League club’s fan base who will be more devastated.

Aston Villa’s victory against the Gunners takes them out of the relegation zone. Watford drop down to 18th place and they are at serious risk of relegation.

The Hornets need to get a result on the final day to have any chance of staying up in the Premier League. Sadly for them, it’s a trip to Arsenal who will be looking to put things right after their dismal performance against the Villans.

Arsenal fans don’t really have a soft spot for Watford because of Troy Deeney. The Hornets skipper had a few harsh things to say about the Gunners in the past and Chris Sutton feels that those comments will fire up Mikel Arteta’s players on Sunday.

He told BBC 5 Live Sport: “I just wonder, Arsenal players, with what Troy Deeney said about the club, if you are an Arsenal player or an Arsenal fan, you would want to bury Watford.”

“That’s a snide on the club. You don’t want (opponents) questioning your courage. Bang out of order it was at the time. I don’t think he had the right to say that, whether he was right or not.”

‘That would be in my memory bank and I’d be thinking ‘This could be lovely.’ It may make Arsenal just try that little bit harder (to beat Watford and get them relegated).”

Arsenal fans would be glad to be the side who sends Watford down to the Championship after Deeney’s comments about the club in the past.

However, if the Gunners play as they did tonight, Watford will have a chance to climb back up the table but sadly for them, a win at the Emirates might still not be enough to keep them safe.

Aston Villa are level on points with the Hornets but are ahead of them by just one point on goal difference. Watford will have to get a better result than Villa on the final day but considering the quality of opposition for both sides, the Villans look the favourites to stay up.

Deeney will have to use all his experience to rile his side up on Sunday. A defeat will be a massive blow for the club, and he will have to tolerate Arsenal fans who will keep reminding him of the result every time they see him after that.
