There was more misery for Sunderland as David Moyes’ side found a particularly heartbreaking way to lose.

Sunderland are yet to win a game this season in the Premier League, and blew a two goal lead against Crystal Palace.

Joe Ledley and James McArthur cancelled out Jermain Defoe’s brace, before Christian Benteke scored a 90th minute winner.

The defeat piles more pressure on newly appointed manager David Moyes, who could not have imagined a worse start to the season for the Black Cats.

Don Hutchinson, who played for Sunderland between 2000 and 2001, said on Twitter that he does not want to hear any excuses from the manager – and simply wants him to fix it.

Fixing Sunderland however is no overnight job, as Moyes is rapidly discovering.

He arrived midway through the transfer window, replacing new England boss Sam Allardyce, who got the best out of an under-performing squad last season.

Moyes is yet to discovering his miracle-working magic, and needs to get a win on the board before confidence saps further, ideally with the next home game against West Bromwich Albion.
