Celtic are back in Scottish Premiership action today as they host Kilmarnock at Parkhead.
The Bhoys beat Lille 3-2 in the Europa League on Thursday night, and Neil Lennon now needs to pick up a league win this afternoon.
Celtic’s domestic form hasn’t been good enough of late, and after drawing with St Johnstone last weekend, they must do better this time around.
Lennon may well considered keeping some players in from that win over Lille, and Ismaila Soro and David Turnbull are prime candidates.
Both players have been on the fringes of the Celtic side this season, but came in and impressed against Lille.
Soro has barely been seen since arriving from Bnei Yehuda, but he produced a combative and battling display whilst bringing some life to Celtic’s midfield.
Turnbull picked up a goal and an assist in a fine performance, again giving some energy to a Celtic side that has looked a little lifeless in recent weeks.
Starting both players would likely mean leaving out the likes of Tom Rogic or even Scott Brown, but Lennon has been urged to play the two young midfielders.
Pundit and former Celtic man Davie Provan has told The Scottish Sun that he felt Soro was ‘terrific’ whilst he and Turnbull both got the ball forward quickly rather than simply going sideways, believing they must start against Killie today if Celtic are to win.
“David Turnbull and Ismaila Soro must start versus Kilmarnock alongside Callum McGregor,” said Provan.
“At just 21, Turnbull ticks all the boxes required of a midfield player and on his first start, 22-year-old Soro was terrific with and without the ball. Between them, they got the ball forward early when too often it’s been going sideways,” he added.
