Celtic snapped up Jonjoe Kenny on deadline day, landing the Everton right back on loan until the end of the season.

The Bhoys needed a new right back having sold Jeremie Frimpong to Bayer Leverkusen in a shock deal last week.

BBC Sport report that the deal will be worth around £11.5million, with Frimpong signing a four-year deal in Germany.

The 20-year-old has excelled with Celtic, developing rapidly following a bargain £300,000 move from Manchester City in 2019.

Frimpong’s attacking ability made him a huge threat, and whilst he isn’t the finished product, he is a huge talent for the future.

Leverkusen clearly see huge potential in Frimpong, and boss Neil Lennon seemed disappointed that the right back moved on.

Now, pundit Davie Provan has told The Scottish Sun that he can’t understand why Lennon sounds so aggrieved, because the Scottish title race is over and he just had to jump at the chance to earn a big pay rise and a Bundesliga move.

Provan thinks Lennon would have done exactly the same if given the chance, and claims Frimpong can leave Celtic with no feeling of guilt at all.

“Jeremie Frimpong can leave Celtic with a clear conscience,” said Provan. “At a time Celts are burning cash, he’s made them a bundle even after Manchester City take their slice.”

“With the title race over, he couldn’t knock back the Bundesliga. Not sure why Neil Lennon feels Frimpong is letting him down. If Lenny was offered more money to boss a top-four German club, you wouldn’t see him for dust,” he added.
