All eyes might be on Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Joe Hart today ahead of the visit of Arsenal.

The 33-year-old may be in line for his Premier League debut after The Guardian reported on Friday that Hugo Lloris is a big doubt for this afternoon’s North London derby.

Hart joined Tottenham on a Bosman this past summer after being released by Burnley and has only played in the Europa League so far.

But the former Manchester City stopper hasn’t looked faultless in that competition and was largely to blame for two of the three goals Jose Mourinho’s side shipped in Thursday’s 3-3 draw with LASK.

And legendary goalkeeper Shaka Hislop has told ESPN on YouTube that he feels if any Lilywhites player is the weak link versus the Gunners, it’s Hart.

He said: “Yeah it certainly could [impact the match if Lloris is out]. Joe Hart didn’t cover himself in glory in the Europa League in midweek. Maybe that’s the opening that Arsenal need.”

Thing is, Arsenal aren’t scoring goals so it might not matter who Mourinho selects between the sticks.

Mikel Arteta’s side have only managed to score 10 goals in as many Premier League games so far this season, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, their go-to-guy, has only found the net once from open play in this competition since the 2020-21 campaign began.

Lloris has been a huge player for Tottenham this calendar year, but Mourinho might just get away with not having him fit if the Gunners are as limp in attack as they have been since August.
