Owen Hargreaves has said that Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea should have signed David Raya from Brentford before the goalkeeper moved to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
The former Manchester United player has said on Premier League Productions that new Arsenal signing David Raya would have been a good signing for Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
Raya has joined Arsenal on loan from London and Premier League rivals Brentford.
Arsenal reportedly have the option to make the 27-year-old’s loan deal permanent next summer.

Chelsea have signed Robert Sanchez from Brighton and Hove Albion this summer.
However, Kepa has left for Real Madrid.
Benjamin Mendy parted company with Chelsea for Saudi Arabia earlier this summer.
So, Chelsea are reportedly in the market for a new goalkeeper now.
Chelsea should have gone for David Raya before Arsenal transfer
Hargreaves said, as transcribed by TBR: “Anyone that has played with a goalkeeper knows they’re different.
“David Raya is an amazing goalkeeper, his ability with his feet is a top-four goalkeeper all day. That’s why he’s there.
“Ramsdale had a little blip towards the end of last season, a tiny one. Everyone respects he’s done an amazing job, but why shouldn’t he have competition?
“I think he’s a top-four goalkeeper, I’m just amazed Chelsea didn’t go for him because I think they’re the ones who needed him badly.”
We agree with Hargreaves.
Chelsea need(ed) Raya more than Arsenal did.
While Sanchez is a good goalkeeper, he was not always the number one between the posts for Brighton last season.
Raya is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League, and he is not actually guaranteed a place in the Arsenal first team now due to Aaron Ramsdale.
The Spaniard would have walked into the current Chelsea lineup.
Raya has made 62 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
The goalkeeper has kept 20 clean sheets in those matches.
