Trevor Sinclair has told talkSPORT that Emile Smith Rowe could do himself a ‘whole heap of good’ by leaving Arsenal for Aston Villa.
The former winger questioned whether Villa are looking to sell Jack Grealish given that they are expressing an interest in the Arsenal academy product.
BBC Sport reported on Wednesday that Arsenal rejected a £25 million offer from Villa for Smith Rowe’s talents.
And Sinclair thinks Smith Rowe could be a potential Grealish replacement in B6 and help ‘develop’ his game.
“The biggest thing out of all that is, why are they looking to buy him?” questioned Sinclair.
“I think that points me towards the direction that Jack Grealish could potentially be moving away from Aston Villa.
“I have said it before about Smith Rowe. He reminds me of Paul Merson. Before the ball is coming into him, he’s looking to play it around the corner, first time, then get after it and join in.
“I feel he could be a player that could go in, if Grealish did go and develop his game. Start playing Premier League football and do himself a whole heap of good.”
There’s no way Villa fans would accept a player like Smith Rowe being Grealish’s replacement, nor would Arsenal supporters want their creative talent and fan favourite to leave.
It’s easy to point towards Grealish leaving given that Villa have signed Emi Buendia and, on top of that, they seemingly want Smith Rowe.
But the boyhood Villa fan only signed a new deal last summer and the club’s owners haven’t spent around £300 million during these past few seasons just to sell their star man as they are on the edge of Europe.
