Tottenham Hotspur are going strong in the Premier League this season and should finish in the top four. In fact, there is a possibility that Tottenham could even challenge Chelsea for the title.

Under manager Mauricio Pochettino, Spurs have progressed well over the past three or so years. The North London outfit ended up third in the league table last season, and Champions League qualification for the 2017-18 campaign would be deemed a success.

Spurs are an ambitious club and have some superb footballers, such as Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen.

Former Tottenham midfielder Danny Murphy, though, believes that they are still missing something and has asked two key questions of the club.

“Spurs are in a difficult place,” Murphy, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport, wrote in The London Evening Standard. “They have a strong team who everyone enjoys watching but they need a little bit extra.

“They are very reliant on Kane and Alli, who have contributed 41 goals between them this season. So how do they find that missing ingredient that would allow them to take the final step?

“Do they relax their wage structure and try to sign the very best players? Or do they stick to their current policy and trust manager Mauricio Pochettino to keep improving the men he has?”

For Tottenham to establish themselves among Europe’s elite, they will have to sign top players in the coming years, but for now, investment in youth is working just fine. Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool all are below them in the league table.
