West Bromwich Albion have really struggled this season.
West Brom boss Alan Pardew spoke exclusively to the Express & Star, and highlighted the need for a couple of his players to stand up and be counted between now and the end of the season.
The Baggies currently sit firmly rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, 10 points adrift of safety, and they have just seven games remaining in which to save themselves.
Pardew’s side have won just one Premier League game since he was handed the reigns at the Hawthorns way back in November, and many are questioning whether he is the right man for the job.
The 56-year-old spoke exclusively to the Express & Star about his side’s woeful campaign thus far, and shared how he cannot accept his players losing their mentality during games, whilst highlighting the need for a couple of his players to pull their fingers out:
“There is also a time when players can look within themselves and say, ‘right I’m going to get my finger out’. I think there are a couple of players where that needs to happen. If we get beat because we’re not good enough technically or we can create or score enough goals then we have to accept that. But let’s not accept losing our mentality during a game.”
The Baggies now face two crucial home games against Burnley and Swansea City respectively, and nothing less than a return of six points from those games will do, if they are to have any chance whatsoever of avoiding the drop down to the Championship this season.
