West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis has told wba.co.uk he needs patience from supporters after signing a new contract at the club, keeping him at the Hawthorns until 2018.

The Baggies are 13th in the Premier League after a steady start to the season, and have seem glimpses of a more attacking West Brom side, but only in small doses.

Pulis understands the fans want to see more attacking football and insists the club are working on bringing that to the Hawthorns, but insists survival is still the most important thing.

“The priority is to stay out of that bottom three,” Pulis told wba.co.uk.

“We’ve got to take small steps and people have to be patient.

“I do accept that we do have to give them something to cheer about.”

Fans of the Baggies have sometimes been frustrated with Pulis’ style of football, with rigid formations set to grind out points rather than playing fluid football designed to dazzle supporters.

The Welsh manager has accepted that he needs to give fans a reason to come and support the team, but staying out of the relegation zone will always be top priority as West Brom aim to walk before they can run, ensuring the club’s status is stable before they slowly change the way the team plays.

Bringing Nacer Chadli to the club has added a new dimension to Pulis’ side, and he has already shown his worth since joining West Brom. Fans will be praying they see more players like the Belgian move to the West Midlands.
