Liverpool have been told they will have to pay at least £50million to sign Red Bull Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita, reports the Times.
The 22-year-old signed from the Bundesliga sides sister club Red Bull Salzburg last summer and has been in impressive form since his arrival, scoring eight goals and assisting eight in 31 league appearances, helping Leipzig to a second placed finish, securing a place in next season’s Champion’s League.

The Guinea international represents a considerably expensive signing for a midfielder, but Jurgen Klopp should continue to pursue one of his priority transfer targets if he is to take Liverpool to the next level.
The Anfield club finished fourth this season after Chelsea’s incredible form and a poor string of results against lower league opposition blew Liverpool’s title challenge out of the water.
They will have to contend with Champion’s League football in addition to their Premier League demands next season, and Klopp will both need to strengthen the quality and depth within his squad if Liverpool are to make any serious progress in either competition.

On top of Keita bringing pace and both attacking and defensive quality to the Liverpool side, his signing would also provide the basis of stating the Reds’ intent to return to the top of English football.
Jurgen Klopp will have to be willing to spend big and go toe to toe with the Premier League’s heavyweights if they are to mount a serious title challenge next season, and Naby Keita can be a big step towards achieving that goal.
