Crystal Palace and Watford target Khouma Babacar has stated his intention to remain at Fiorentina until he wins a trophy, reports Talksport.
The 24-year-old striker has impressed at Serie A side this season, scoring 13 goals in his 26 appearances for the Italian club, including a double in their 5-4 win over Inter Milan.
Speaking in an interview with Gazzetta delo Sport, he said: “Fiorentina are worth much more than the current league position.”
“Sometimes we have shown it. My first aim is to stay in Florence and win a trophy wearing this shirt.
“Only after focusing on this achievement could I think of going in search of new challenges.”
Senegalese forward Babacar was brought up through the youth ranks at Fiorentina, before being loaned out in 2012 to Spanish side Racing Santander, who were playing in the Segunda division at the time.
Two more loan spells followed, before Babacar was given his opportunity to prove his worth at his parent club for the 2014/15 season.
Although he still has had to play second fiddle to Fiorentina top scorer Nikola Kalinic this season, he has found more regular opportunities to have an impact this season and impressed throughout.
It might be some time before Khouma Babacar comes to the Premier League, but if he is able to maintain and improve his current goal scoring form then the number of potential suitors will surely rise too.
